    The New Via delle Batterie

    CTliveBy CTlive15/07/2026

A major regeneration project, designed to benefit residents and visitors alike.

The completion date for what is set to become one of the most significant projects, particularly from a tourism perspective, has been set: February 2027. The redevelopment of Via delle Batterie was made possible thanks to a proposal from the Consorzio Nuova Via delle Batterie, comprising seven companies from the hospitality sector and chaired by entrepreneur Andrea Granzotto, which have invested 7.2 million euros.

Mr. Granzotto, how would you summarise this project?

“A public-private partnership agreement for the implementation of a strategic project of regional interest, aimed at improving access to accommodation facilities and making a stretch of over 3 kilometres of public roads safer. This project represents a concrete response to the needs of residents and the approximately 2.2 million tourists staying in the area’s accommodation facilities, promoting safer and more sustainable mobility through the construction of a cycle path and a pavement along the entire stretch in question. The project covers an area of particular tourist and scenic importance, also known for the historic ‘Batterie’, from which the road itself takes its name.”

What will change in terms of road layout?

“The new road layout will feature two 3.50-metre lanes in each direction, a 2.75-metre cycle path separated by a hedge, and new pavements that connect with the existing cycle path. There will also be two roundabouts with adjacent parking spaces to improve safety at the access points to the sea at Ca’ Ballarin and Ca’ Vio.”

Does the project also include new road signs, car parks and the reorganisation of junctions?

“Yes, but I would also like to emphasise the great attention paid to green spaces. In fact, the plan is to plant around 300 trees and 500 shrubs, which is more than the number of trees and shrubs that will be removed. The works have been awarded to the company Costruzioni Bordignon of Volpago del Montello. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Roberta Nesto, the municipal administration, the technical departments and, in particular, architect Elvio Tuis, Head of Public Works, for the professionalism and cooperation they have shown, as well as all my colleagues who have believed in and supported this project, demonstrating vision and a commitment to the development and enhancement of the local area.”
