This is the most famous country fest in the ancient lagoon village of Lio Piccolo where jujube plants, ‘ziz zola’ in dialect, can still be found. The event will be held on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of September, organised by the Borgo di Lio Piccolo association and supported by the municipality. The aim is to promote the cultivation and planting of jujube trees that can still be found in the borough, raising awareness and ap preciation of the gardens and typical fruits that used to be grown in the Cavallino-Treporti area, particularly in these areas of Lio Piccolo and Mesole, among which jujube has become the symbol of this festival.
Among the initiatives to follow: Saturday, at 4.30 pm, presentation of Piero Santostefano’s book “Lio Picco lo. Mille anni di storie, persone e destini nella Laguna di Venezia” (Lio Piccolo. A thousand years of stories, people and destinies in the Venice Lagoon), followed by the theatrical performance “E finalmente il mare!” (Finally the sea!). The exhibitions “Frammenti in Laguna” (Fragments in the Lagoon) and “Essenze” (Essences), the personal exhibition by Vanni D’Este, will also be on display.
