Pisani Battery Museum – Welcomed by Clelia

    CTliveBy CTlive21/05/2025

An extraordinary woman welcomes us to the Vettor Pisani Battery Museum. She is Dr Clelia Lollini. A medical lieutenant, specialised in surgery, she also fought the battles to demolish the prejudice that relegated women to roles of lesser responsibility, even on the health front. With great courage, during the First World War, she put on her gown, entered the operating room and saved the lives of many soldiers.

It is thanks to technology that we can get to know this great character. She, in fact, is one of the two holograms (the other represents Vice Admiral Paolo Thaon di Revel) that can be found at the “Vettor Pisani”. An original way to learn about and appreciate history.

    THE GREAT STRUCTURE

The Pisani Battery (Via Vettor Pisani, 40) is an extraordinary museum dedicated to the Great War and the history of the territory. The restoration of the former military building represents not only the recovery of an important part of the cultural heritage but also the centre of the Via dei Forti, an open-air museum exhibition consisting of the military buildings and fortifications constructed in Cavallino-Treporti over a century ago.

    THE EXHIBITIONS

The following exhibitions can be visited: Defence System-Trigonometry in History; Splinters, Fragments of the Great War Sculpted in Memory; Navy, Men at Sea-1915-1918 The Great War in the Upper Adriatic; Sanitary Instruments and Techniques used in Medicine during the Great War; Restoration – stages of the restoration project of the Pisani and Amalfi Batteries.

    OPENING HOURS

Until the 28th of September open every day (except Mondays), from 10.30 am to 6 pm (last admission 5.15 pm). Info and reservations: +39 0412909555; info@viadeiforti.it
