A few days ago, I was riding my bike in Via Pordelio, along the spectacular cantilevered bicycle path, thinking about what to write in my next editorial. As I was recalling the many excellences of this location, a spontaneous smile lit up my face, which reminded me of a well-known Italian film from a few years ago called ‘Chiedimi se sono felice’ (Ask me if I’m happy). The answer is all too obvious, because here in Cavallino-Treporti there’s everything one could wish for to create the perfect memories of a holiday full of satisfaction, emotions, happiness among the receptiveness and the welcoming spirt of the locals, the close contact with nature, the (unique!) lagoon landscapes and the nearby city of Venice… And, suddenly, I thought of one of the most moving and touching scenes in the history of cinema.
The film is Jerry Maguire. Tom Cruise bursts into the living room to try to win his wife back, listing everything he missed about her, until he says: ‘You complete me’. And the wife, Renée Zellweger, stops him and says: ‘Stop it! You had already had me at Hello”.
So, why go any further in describing Cavallino-Treporti? To experience it you can stop at the first ‘Ciao’. The rest will complete us.
