After a three-year hiatus, the event celebrating the lagoon traditions returns on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of June. The event is organised by the Società Remiera Cavallino, in collaboration with other local associations such as Contrada Cavallino, Amici di Ca’ Pasquali and Litorale Runner, with the support of the Municipality, Assocamping and the Parco Turistico di Cavallino-Treporti
The festival is dedicated to celebrating the sport of Venetian rowing, with caorline and mascarete regattas, and to paying homage to the lagoon with the Sunset Run, the fascinating sunset race along Via Pordelio.
The novelty
It is called ‘Palio delle Contrade e delle Associazioni’ for the greater involvement of all local entities: name also given to the regatta reserved for women in mascareta (a traditional Venetian boat). In addition, on the day of the event there will be different gazebos and stalls to promote the attractions of the area. On the contrary, the ‘Palio delle Contrade’ will involve the regatta of a different type of historical boats, the caorline, to evoke the not-so-distant times when these boats were used by the farmers of the Littoral to take their produce to the Rialto market in Venice.
But that’s not all: for the first time, the regattas will be able to be followed from the new panoramic terrace, which has turned the Cavallino race track into a true Venetian-style rowing stadium.
The programme
On Saturday afternoon, the Società Remiera Cavallino will entertain visitors with short outings on the rowing boat, in anticipation of the Sunset Run at 7.30 pm.
On Sunday 11th at 3 pm, the Nuovo Palio Remiero with all the races.
On both days, food stands and music.
The Palio d’arte will be painted by Cinzia Scarpa, a popular local artist.
