Today I will take you along one of the four bicycle paths, which will take us to discover the small village of Lio Pic- colo, surrounded by postcard landscapes. We start out from Ca’ Savio, in the shopping centre area. We pedal for about 15 kilometres on this bicycle path called “La via degli orti della Laguna” (The Lagoon Vegetable Path), which, from the local bridge, over the Pordelio canal, crosses the historic centre of Treporti, its two bell towers, and then moves on through vegetable gardens, parks and enchanting lagoon scenery. Our gaze is caught by the open spaces of the lagoon, among Little Egrets, Black-winged Stilts, Avocets, Cor- morants, Terns and the wonderful Pink Flamingos. While the islands of Burano and San Francesco remain in the background, we visit the ancient village of Prà di Saccagna, the former Mesole Convent, and then stop at Lio Piccolo, an ancient village of Romanesque origin, to visit the Museum “Frammenti di Laguna” (Fragments of the Lagoon).
Here in Lio Piccolo, among salt marshes and fishing val- leys inhabited by a rich wildlife, colours mingle in shades of greys, greens and blues, and we immerse ourselves in a timeless time. The route can also be taken solo, both on foot or by bike. For those who do not have the possibility of bringing their own bike, i advise to rent it in a shop in Cavallino Treporti. If you wish to be accompanied by someone who can tell you everything about the area, call me.
I am Linda.
