The mayor of Cavallino-Treporti, Roberta Nesto, receives a national award.
An award for the important political and administrative results achieved for her community. And not only that, since the award is deeply tied with relevant tourism figures and more, like the administrative skills and competence of the first beach in the Veneto region and, overall, the sixth Italian resort for tourism data, which recorded almost 7 million presences in 2023 alone. The award was presented to her at the “Italia, questa Repubblica Donna” event at the Chamber of Deputies in Montecitorio, Rome.
Mayor, how do you feel about this award?
“I feel a great satisfaction. Being a mayor, a woman mayor, is an important public role. It is the one closest to the citizen, a true meeting point between the rules of common living and the entire population. It is a social role before being an administrative one and it is the beating heart of our Republic. As a woman, I am committed to gender inclusion and representation”.
What are the factors that made this recognition possible?
“A careful approach to achieve significant goals for the municipality. We have accomplished, and are still accomplishing, important goals. We have increased our reputation, both nationally and internationally. We continue to be the first European location for open air tourism, the first beach in the Veneto region, and we are the sixth largest tourist city”.
How important is tourism in this award?
“It is a key sector for Italy, for Veneto, and also for our community. Cavallino-Treporti is a place of extraordinary beauty and historical richness”.
To whom do you dedicate this award?
“To women, with the hope of seeing them more and more involved in politics”.
THE MAYOR IN THE BOOKSHOP
“In scienza e conoscenza” (“In Science and Knowledge”) is the book written by Roberta Nesto, lawyer by profession. Prompted by journalist Francesco Cassandro’s questions, the city official dwells on twenty-nine stories of discomfort, suffering and despair that, over the years, have knocked at her office as a family and juvenile law lawyer and that have marked her in her human and professional sphere.
Developed in a simple but fast paced plot, the book deals with events concerning household violence, separation, custody, wills, betrayed loves, freedom of choice, neighbourhood and public administration relations. The book will be presented to the community during the summer.
