The history of Venice is made up of places, events, but also of many characters who, among the calli and campielli, have found the inspiration to establish themselves in the world of art, music, fashion and photography. Mariano Fortuny has excelled in all these fields. Spanish by origin and Venetian by adoption, he moved to Venice at the beginning of the 1900s and, shortly after, founded the company “Tessuti artistici Fortuny” on the island of Giudecca, still active today and famous all over the world for his prints, which have even furnished the halls of the Metropolitan in New York.
In Venice there are two symbolic places that refer to the master that can be visited; one is the aforementioned company, by appointment and the other is the house museum, which was his private home, as well as his design studio, where you can also admire a model of his iconic patented Delphos dress, in pleated satin, also worn several times by Peggy Guggenheim.
